Naomi Anderson - Cake Artist and Pastry Chef
Not many people can say they always knew what they wanted to be and at a young age I knew that I wanted to be a chef. I've always had a passion for food and always found myself in the kitchen, especially with my aunts and beloved grandmother. In high school, whenever the opportunity came, I baked for my friends and classmates.
Pastry and cake decorating was always my passion however I saw it to be an advantage to have culinary knowledge across the board. At the age of 16, I took the opportunity to pursue my career professionally and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute or TTHTI. Once I completed the culinary program I then decided to gain professional knowledge in my passion and follow up with the Baking and Pastry Arts program. During my time at TTHTI, I was afforded many opportunities, including interning at multiple top hotels and resorts around the Caribbean, namely Sandals Grande Antigua and The Crane Resort in Barbados.

Unicakery
The Passion Project Made Business
I started Unicakery in 2017, doing seasonal sales and selling cakes and cupcakes to close friends and family. As my business and brand grew, I decided to leave my full-time job at the time and fully commit to building Unicakery. I started as a regular home-based online bakery however, as time progressed and my skill improved, people began to inquire about me teaching them about the art of baking my way. I would have hosted my first physical workshop in 2019 under the name Unicakery Tutorials. In 2020, during the pandemic, I would have migrated to the platform of online learning. This allowed me to still share my knowledge of creating with others! I have also written multiple newspaper articles and would have been featured on different platforms for my growing social media presence. In 2023, another ambitious leap was taken where we decided to move to a dedicated baking studio. This year proved to be a very rewarding year in my entrepreneurial journey, where I would have competed and placed in several business pitch competitions and won a prestigious Female Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In July 2024, Unicakery moved to a more permanent location at 102, Abercromby Street Port of Spain, allowing more potential for business visibility and growth. I believe that as time evolves, so does Unicakery!
